Q. If my JEEP is converted to run on LPG do I have to have a large tank in the luggage compartment?
A. No, both Cherokee and Grand Cherokee can have a tank for petrol and LPG under the vehicle in place of the old tank.
Q. Can my JEEP be converted to LPG if it's still in warranty?
A. JEEP will not cover any part of the vehicle found to be faulty as a result of fitting the gas conversion.
Q. What should I expect if my JEEP is converted to run on LPG?
A. To start with, smaller fuel bills, a slight decrease in power but apart from that your vehicle should run the same.
Q. I've used my 4.0L Cherokee auto in part time 4 wheel drive, now I can't seem to get it out. Help!
A. What you need to do is drive the vehicle forward and then backwards quite quickly from standstill after selecting 2 wheel or 4 wheel drive. This will require several attempts.
Q. One bulb is not working in my centre stop lamp on my Grand Cherokee, my dealer said I need a complete lamp - is this correct?
A. The bulbs can be changed in your C.H.M.S.L. (chimsel centrally high mounted stop lamp) a small tag on the bulb holder needs to be broken off. The holder can then be twisted anti-clockwise and the bulb pulled out.
Q. When my 4.0L Grand Cherokee has done about 30-35 mls I get a judder from the rear whilst pulling away at roundabouts. What could it be?
A. The most common fault is the LSD limited slip diff clutch pad slipping - it may just require an oil change in the back axle and an additive fitted. If it's done more than 50,000 mls it's probably wear in the clutch plates and will require replacement of the clutch pad.
Q. I have a Cherokee 4.0L ltd. After parking up in my garage I found a pool of water under the nearside front chassis rail, the water looks clear - where is it from?
A. If it's clear water it is coming from your air conditioning units drain hose which runs out of the chassis rail. The a/c works automatically when you select the blower to clear the windscreen.
Q. When can I use my 4 wheel drive systems? I have a 2.5 Tb Cherokee
A. Your vehicle is equipped with a part-time 4 wheel drive system and should only be used on loose surfaces and not tarmac.
Q. I have a 4.0L Cherokee auto. When can I use my vehicle in 4 wheel drive?
A. Your vehicle can be used in 4 wheel drive at any time or all the time. You can change into 4 wheel drive whilst moving - this is called 'shift on the fly'.
Q. I get a clonking noise from my front axle whilst turning slowly - any ideas?
A. It's possible you have a worn drive shaft UJ. Turn the propshaft by hand (front prop) backwards and forwards, look to see if the joint moves at the end of the drive shaft. If it does, the UJ is worn and needs replacement.
Q. My Cherokee went for an MOT and I was told my rear wheels had movement in and out - is this normal?
A. Yes this is normal. It is due to the way the rear shafts are located within the rear axle. This is not an MOT failure.
Q. I get a rumbling noise from my rear axle. What could it be? I have a '96 Grand Cherokee
A. It is not unusual for these vehicles to wear rear diff carrier bearings so this would be one place to look.
Q. At the weekend I spent some time off road in quite deep mud but now I find I have a dreadful vibration. Any clues?
A. It is possible you may have damaged something underneath but I suspect you have a build-up of mud on your wheel rims. Wash off and road test.
